The lake was mechanically opened on Tuesday 25 August following very heavy rain due to an “East Coast Low”. For example, Ulladulla had 273mm of rain in two days.
The Mt Agony Road was cut in three places as the waters rose quickly on Tuesday afternoon. At 2:00pm the road was covered with 10cm of water, by 4:00pm the road was flooded by 80 cm of fast flowing water.
The Eurobodalla Council moved quickly and opened the lake with an excavator on Tuesday night at 10pm to prevent further flooding in South Durras.
